Students want to learn. They want to be challenged. They want the opportunity to meet and speak with people who do interesting things. They want to expand their ideas and develop new ones. Experts want to share. They want to inspire. They want others to be impassioned to explore the possibilities of their field. They want the opportunity to act as mentors to future generations.
Founded in 2018, Conference2Classroom facilitates connections between experts attending conferences and local classrooms in the host city. Our goal is to enable outreach events in cities across Canada between visiting experts and students Conference2Classroom was founded by Rachel Kuzmich, a PhD student at Queen's University, upon her return from ForestSAT. While at the conference she recognized the palpable passion in each expert for their work and a missed opportunity to engage with the community. Rachel has long been passionate about science communication and community outreach, particularly with youth, particularly as she has entered into a discipline that she had no idea existed when she was a kid. |
